In accordance with the directives of His Excellency the Chairman of the Fund for the Reconstruction of Areas Affected by Terrorist Operations, Engineer Saad Amin Faisal Al-Jubouri, the Fund continued its work on rehabilitating the road linking the Karfar Junction to the Al-Sumoud Junction in Ain Zala, Zummar District, Tal Afar District, Nineveh Governorate. The works included laying the street with crushed gravel (base layer) and preparing it for paving. This was achieved by excavating and leveling the natural ground to a specific depth (earthen box), then laying 20 cm thick layers of crushed gravel. This was followed by watering and thorough compaction to ensure a suitable and strong surface. Next, the base layer was laid and compacted, and finally, the paving stage began with a 7 cm thick polymerized layer of bitumen or asphalt. Simultaneously, work is underway to rehabilitate and reinforce the culverts along the road to achieve the required road strength and load-bearing capacity, ensuring stability. This will facilitate transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and connect cities and regions, thus supporting the national economy and expediting the delivery of services and goods.

It is worth mentioning that the engineering and technical staff of the Fund are keen to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the technical conditions and the contractual schedule of quantities, with the conduct of all required laboratory tests and adherence to technical standards, and continuous follow-up during the implementation of all projects. The Fund aims through this to support and develop infrastructure and economic sectors directly, and to drive the wheel of sustainable development and meet the basic needs of communities in the liberated governorates.
