The Head of the Fund for the Reconstruction of Areas Affected by Terrorist Operations, Engineer Saad Amin Faisal Al-Jubouri, conducted a field visit to the Al-Taji Market rehabilitation and expansion project. The visit aimed to review the progress of the work, assess completion rates, and identify key technical obstacles affecting the project's execution.
This project is considered a significant infrastructure development for the area, given its vital role in connecting the Mosul–Baghdad road to the villages of Al-Taji, as well as its contribution to improving traffic flow and ease of movement. The project includes widening the road to approximately 25 meters, constructing side sidewalks and a central median, installing lighting, burying the main drainage channel, and laying concrete pipes with a diameter of one meter.
During the visit, he reviewed the completion rates—noting that 24% of the work has been completed against a planned 85%—and emphasized the need to address the delays and accelerate the pace of work to align with the project’s established timeline.
Furthermore, he instructed the executing company to urgently address issues related to the main drainage channel, following observations of stagnant water accumulating along the street after the backfilling process. He stressed the necessity of completing the installation of the concrete pipes and rectifying the backfilling work to ensure the integrity of the road layers, prevent water accumulation, and meet all technical implementation requirements. This visit is part of ongoing field monitoring of the Fund’s projects, aimed at addressing technical obstacles and ensuring that projects are executed in accordance with approved specifications—thereby contributing to the development of infrastructure and the improvement of public services in the beneficiary areas.
